Basketball Coach Helps Players Get Offers for The First Time in Program History!
Originally from Louisiana, Leatrice Johnson found her way west to Victorville, California where she took over as head girl’s basketball coach at Excelsior Charter High School in 2016.
As a former collegiate player, Coach Johnson understood the school’s mission to prepare students for success both on and off the court. Excelsior views athletics as a tremendous way for athletes to build life skills and to provide opportunities for students to continue their athletic careers in college.
“I was determined to assist young ladies in creating positive, life-changing opportunities. FieldLevel made the recruiting process simple and productive”
Located in the California high desert, the coaches at Excelsior knew they had talented athletes but had difficulty providing them with exposure to colleges. However, once Coach Johnson joined FieldLevel, she was able to connect with college coaches nationwide and create opportunities for her seniors. In her first year, Coach Johnson helped three seniors get college offers. As a result, her program received a record amount of donations from the Excelsior alumni.
“By the end of our basketball season, our three seniors were offered the opportunity to play at several colleges. These were the first college offers our program received for female basketball players but, because of FieldLevel, it will certainly not be the last.”
FieldLevel allows Coach Johnson to collaborate with her athletes to target the right schools and get their information in front of college coaches.
“It goes without saying that I will continue to use FieldLevel due to its awesome interface, the ease of connecting with a wide variety of coaches, and the unseen positive reinforcement FieldLevel dedicates to assisting coaches with helping their athletes achieve their dreams.”
